The UU Church of the Shenandoah Valley in Stephens City, Virginia, is seeking an experienced pianist/choral accompanist. The pianist will accompany the Chalice Singers choir during Thursday, 7 PM rehearsals and Sunday, 11 AM services. The pianist will support a total of three Sunday services per month, to include those with choir, from September through May, plus a Christmas Eve service and a Music Sunday service.

The individual should possess strong keyboard skills, be fluent at sight reading, and be comfortable with classical and popular styles. Responsibilities include preparing choral anthems, congregational hymns and providing prelude/offertory selections for services. Repertoire reflects important issues of UU faith: environment, social justice, equality, human dignity, and the world at large. Performance will be on our seven foot grand piano in our Sanctuary which possesses excellent acoustics.

The UUCSV congregation is a liberal worship community that loves its music and fosters a cordial environment in which all are welcome. The pianist will work closely with the Director of the Chalice Singers in creating a collegial atmosphere that inspires joyful singing on the part of the choir and the congregation. And will also coordinate Sunday service music with the Minister or Worship Associate. Salary: From $550 per month
